Last night Swizz Beatz and Timbaland put on a Verzuz event for the ladies featuring Atlanta based singing groups 112 and Jagged Edge. Both armed with impressive and lengthy catalogues, the two groups kept the energy high last night and it was an a battle that I felt was a great balance of hits vs ballads. This was one of those events that actually made me realize in the end that I liked more songs by 112 than I previously thought! Stream and Like the Spotify playlist below, which is comprised of the music played by both groups.

Verzuz: Bounty Killer vs. Beenie Man Spotify Playlist

Unless you were living under a rock this weekend, you may have seen what was arguably the best event in the Swizz Beatz and Timbaland hosted Verzuz series. Verzuz pits 2 influential artists, performers or groups in an epic catalogue battle of sorts via Instagram Live that a lot of times has no clear winner aside from us viewers. Saturday’s event was no different, as Dancehall icons Bounty Killer and Beenie Man performed their songs together in the same room (a Verzuz first) and gave what I would say was my favorite so far based on the energy and sound. It was so good I had to make a playlist of the songs used by Beenie Man and Bounty Killer. Listen below via Spotify and add it to your favorites.

Note: There is one song here that is missing and not currently available on Spotify. That would be the song “It’s A Party” by the Cocoa Brovas featuring Bounty Killer & Nona Hendryx.

With the idea for the video conceptualized by Burse, he describes it as a “tiepiece” TiePiece [tahy-pees] (noun),  which is any form of art that is significantly influenced by, or linked to, events, or things, taking place during the same era/time that the art is created”.
