Last night I was stunned like many other of my peers in the music and blogging world to learn about the sudden passing of Earl Patrick McNease aka Praverb. Praverb was not only an indie Hip-Hop emcee but also a well of information aiding other aspiring artists along the way through many methods including countless enlightening tweets and writing features on websites like KevinNottingham.com and his own website Praverb.net. He had a reputation of putting others before himself and this is surely one clear example of his way of life.
I personally never met Praverb and but can honestly say I have no clue where Embassy: Interactive would be today if it wasn’t for his direct influence. His inclusion of E:I on his Ultimate Hip-Hop Blog Directory the first full year of the site’s operation introduced me to so many artists today I can’t even begin to name them all. What transpired from this made my frame of focus in terms of the site’s musical content that much easier for others and me to understand. While I always focused on featuring music I personally liked and loved the feeling of helping talented artists get exposure, the outreach by them directly to me was more important than me just “finding” music online. That, without question, I can definitely attribute to him.
Outside of all this, Praverb was most importantly Earl Patrick McNease, a husband, father and son. My sincerest condolences go to his friends and family. Whether related to music or not, it’s always sad to lose someone who was personally invested in guiding people to help them accomplish their dreams selflessly. It’s an honor for me to be recognized by him as someone who could potentially aid in this happening.
Rest in Paradise Praverb.
